4-H CLUB NEWS
House Cleaning
House cleaning and painting of
tallies, benches and shelves was
the work accomplished by the 4-H
club members at an all-day meet-
ing held at the Recreation Build-
ing Wednesday.
This meeting was held in order i
to prepare for the fall meetings, I
the first of which will be held
Wednesday, September 4. at the ;
Recreation Building at 4:00 P. M.
Miss Nellie Cundiff will give a
demonstration on home cleaning
of cotton and wool sweaters and
other articles.
A short business session was held
in which plans were made for a
rummage sale to be held Satur-
day, August 17.
Sandwiches, cookies, fruit and
driver. Hardy has driven 1.350,000
miles without an accident, and will
pilot ‘a $2,400 stainless steel trailer
which will be given away during
the campaign.
L. B Brown of Houston, presi-
dent of the association, urged all
truckers to Join together in giving
financial and moral support in
meeting the needs of motor carri-
ers in Texas. More than $2,0n0 in
cash prizes will be distributed.

Yoakum Sub-District
Seeks Army Recruits
The following quota is assigned
to the Yoakum Sub-District for the
young men whose ambition is to
obtain more education in electric
motors, motor mechanic, radio,
telephone and about 25 or 30 other
different kinds of schooling.
Others are 7 for Cavalry; 6 for
Medical Corps: 2 for Coast Artil-
lery; 3 for Field Artillery; 3 for
Quartermaster: 1 for Engineers; 2
for Infantry. Most of these vacan-
cies are at Fort Sam Houston, Tex-
as.
