Dennis M. Weise, central
office repairman for General
Telephone Company, has been
promoted to installation and
maintenance foreman ac-
cording to E. O. Cambem.
division manager. The
promotion was effective March
15.
Weise will replace N B
McCormick who is transferring
to Georgetown He will be
responsible for all installation
and maintenance work in
Portland. Odem. Taft. Aransas
Pass, and Ingleside. He will
report to division headquarters
in Kobstown
A native of Goliad. Texas.
Weise was employed as an
unlocated lineman with General
Telephone in 1957. He came to
Portland in 1961 as installer
repairman and has held the
position of central office
repairman since 1967.
Donnie and his wife, Verlene
Jenet, and their three children
will continue to make their
home at 1408 Denver in Por-
tland. The Weise’s are mem-
bers of St. Stephen’s Lutheran
Church.

Officer Installation
There was a dinner-dance
held Friday night for the new
officers of the Corpus Christi
Daughters of the Nile Club, at
the Coastal Bend Shrine Club.
All the officers were installed
by Queen Eleanor Newcomb
from Nekodah Temple No 44. of
San Antonio with the assistance
of Queen elect Mildred Doran.
Mrs. George Beck, 110 Maple
Dr., was installed as sewing
chairman. The sewing chair-
man is in charge of having
clothing and stuffed toys made
for the crippled children
hospital in Houston and the burn
hospital in Galveston.
Baptist Youth
Choir Scores
High in Contest
Sixiy-one youth, including
seven adult sponsors, attended
the State Youth Choir Music
Festival at the Baptist College
in Dallas over the past
weekend The group left by bus
on Friday morning and
returned to Portland on
Saturday evening.
The Youth Choir scored high
with two ratings of 98. They
were under the leadership and
direction of Charles Tolleson,
associate pastor and music
director, and Steve Martin,
youth director, of First Baptist
Church.
