G.-P. Wildcats
Score 58 Points
In Robstown Relays
The Gregory Portland
Wildcats scored 58 points in the
field events to take a com-
manding lead in the Robstown
Relays last Saturday but could
not withstand the power of
Sinton’s runners. As a result the
Pirates took the championship
with 145 points to 133 for the
Wildcats.
Two new school records were
set in the meet, but neither was
good enough to take first place
in the event. Marty Akins got off
the best throw of his career
55’ 10" but had to take a one inch
defeat as Roy Bray of Robstown
threw 55’11”. The 55’ 10” did
raise Akins school record from
the 55’8 1-2” he threw last week
at New Braunfels.
Gregory Portland’s two mile
relay team of Robert
Rodriguez. Richard Schubert.
Ruben Lozano, and George
Garza ran 8:11.6 to break the
old school record of 8:17.5 set in
1968 bv a team of Ruben
Padron. Mike Kent. Steven
Ramirez and Pat Quillin
