The Abilene City Federation of Women's Clubs held it's Fall
asembly meeting with a luncheon at the Abilene Woman's Club
with 80 members present. Mrs. L. G. Davis was presiding for
the first time as president. The Federation was beginning it's
50th year with a membership of 32 clubs, was emphasized by
Mrs. Davis.
Mrs. Ada C. Wilkins gave the invocation.
The program for the day was presented by Mrs. Douglas Jarrell.
Clyde Mitchell sang three numbers with accompaniment by Mrs.
Philip Slates. He gave a nero spiritual "Go Down Moses" (Burleigh)
"Sacrement" and "God Bless This House".
The president introduced Mrs. J. F. Boren, 2nd Vice-President of
District 6 and State Chairman of Higher Institutions, Miss A. M.
Carpenter, member of National Women's federationn Board of Art
Directors and Mrs. H. L. Taucett from Abilene Reporter News.
Mrs. Ralph Howington made a financial report of the Style Show
given by Ernest Grissom's and Minter's Department Store and
sponsored by the City Federated Women's Clubs. After all expenses
having been paid, a balance of X230.80 was reported.
Mrs. Jim Carter, a member of the Fortnightly Club of Merkel,
announced they were sponsoring a book review by Mrs. Herbert
Emery of Dallas at Abilene High School October 3rd and invited
everyone to attend.
The entertainment committee committee was introduced, Mrs. -d
Stewart, chairman, assisted by Mrs. L. W. THilgenberg, MIrs, Joe
Crump and Mrs. Fred Hughes.
The program feature for the luncheon was a talk by Mrs. H.J.
Moreland, the retiring president of the Abilene City Feyeration.
She drew a vivid word picture of her Summer vacation trip through
the Canadian Tockies.
After the luncheon, Year Books were distributed.
