ROOFING CONTRACT LET
Contract has been awarded
by the Kendall County commis-
sioners’ court to the E. N. Dean
Sheet Metal Roofing Co. of San
Antonio for renovating the
courthouse and jail roofs and re-
placement of the roof on the
Welfare building, all in the down
town courthouse square.
But something else will be ad-
ded that few Kendall County
residents can check on. Direc-
tional markers for aircraft will
be painted on the roofs, with in-
dications to the nearest (San
Antonio) airport.
County Judge M. A. Shumard
Jr. said in the past many pilots
have requested such aid from
all towns. In Boerne this was
originally done by H. O. Adler,
now deceased, who had such
markers painted on his down-
town store building. The mark-
ers have long been erased by
time.
Judge Shumard said members
of the Dean family have had
private pilots’ experience, includ
ing Kendall County Deputy
Sheriff, Marvin Dean, and they
have volunteered to paint, the
markers on the road free of
charge.
L. A. Schrader, Jr., graduate
of the University of Texas, with
a Degree of Interior Design in
1958, and a member of the
American Institute of Design
ers, A. I. D., has been honored
to be asked to join one of the
leading firms of Austin, Texas,
Revell & Co., as Head Designer
and an Assoc. Member of the
firm. In the past year he has
been retained as Designer for a
firm in Corpus Christi, Texas.
His friends in Corpus Christi
have been pleased of his ad-
vancement, but hate to see him
go.
The Band Boosters will meet
on Tuesday, September 4, at
3:45 at the Band Hall.
