After a week’s trial, Chief of Police
Scarborough believes that the now
traffic laws, which were put Into ef-
fect last Thursday are working fine
and that good results are hound to fol-
low if the public will only observe the
rules. The full stop signals on Sixth
.tract are being observed pretty gen-
erally, according to Chief Scarborough
and he believes that with another
week’s education the rule will he ob-
served 'most generally.
"You may say," said the Chief, ‘‘that
after the first of December we will
start to tagging cflrs that do not ob-
serve the rule. Up until that time we
will continue to stop those who break
the rule and give them a chance to
familiarize themselves."
These full stop signs will be placed
on every avenue crossing on Sixth
*;:r, et. where tHe avenue is paved,
and at other intersections where traf-
fic demands it.
Speeders and reckless drivers are
receiving attention also at the hands
t Mr. Scarborough, a number of ar-
rests having been made. Trial In those
cases has been delayed on account of
the sickness of City Recorder Simons
Mr. Scarborough is determined that
ilu- paving shall not become a menace
■p the traveling public simply because
x f w people want to turn the streets
Into a rnee track and fines will he im-
posed to Hie limit when traffic law
I violators are caught.
