Charley Kossbiel says that
Henry Field, owner of radio
station “KFNF,” Shenandoah.
Iowa, is the Henry Ford of the
seed business and that Mr.
Field proposes to celebrate
Washington’s Birthday Febru-
ary 22, in his own way.
Mr. Field has invited Henry
Ford to attend and bring his
‘fiddlers” and hold an old time
fiddlers contest on the occas-
sion.
Mr. Field offers to give a
present to every one who sends
him a telegram between the
hours 7 a. m. February 22 and
12 noon the 24th and that the
present will be forth as much
or more than the cost of the
telegram. Particulars will be
given by any one interested if
they will speak to Charlie
Kossbiel.

QUALITY AT LOW COST
The funeral of J. F. Dawson,
familiarly called Frank Daw-
son by his many friends, was
one of the largest attended
funerals that has taken place
in a long time.
Friends followed the re-
mains to their last resting place
with sincere mourning and
grief for a departed friend who
ever proved true.
The pall bearers were H. T.
MoKown, W. G. Schuetz, L.
L. Chamberlain, C. F. Hopper,
Niel Rupp, and Jack Casey,
xll old friends of years stand-
ing.
The funeral arrangement*
were superintended by Orville
Moyer Mortician with the usual
smoothness and sympathetic
characteristics of this concern.
One of the outstanding fea-
tures of the funeral was the
funeral was the address given
address given by one of the de-
ceased’s old time friends and
neighbors, Ed. Rachal and all
present heartily commended
the tribute.
Mr. Rachal said in part:
“In these times of sorrow we
turn to the minister of the
Gospel, an interpreter of God’s
Word, for our comfort.
It is he who can give to us
understanding the balm that
is always ready to soothe our
heart-aches.
The minister’s office, his
knowledge of Divine teachings,
and his sincerity and faithful-
ness as his M aster’s servant
fit h i m t o g i v e comfort to
sorrowing hearts.
And yet, at this time, a
friend, ‘tho’ he be only a lay-
man, may have the privilege of
voicing evidence of the high
fcsteem and brotherly love felt
by many for this friend whose
life on earth has ended.
But as proof of the high re-
gard in which he was held and
of the friendship and love for
him by those who knew him
well, the words that I can ut-
ter are weak and of little mean
ing when compared with the;
forceful and impressive proof
as shown by the feelings and
the actions of his loved ones
and o f his many friends:—
shown by the pleasure they
found in his company in his
days of better health; by their
kind and careful attentions to
him and their anxiety for him
during his trying sickness; and
by the tears in their eyes and
the sorrow in their hearts now
that he has passed on from this
world.
And it was thus and is thus
because so well meiited.
We who know him placed
high value on his worth.
He has tver turned ? listen-
ing ear ani put forth a help-
ing hand to those in distress.
He has e\«.:r spoken words ct
encouragement and of kindness
to others, evoi at times when
it would s o r. that ill health
would drive hxm tc. be a con-
stant supplicant for cln:« r
rather than a giver of cheer to
others.

comfort for them in the memo-

More than that there is com-

Life has ceased to be in this
body, but that does not separ-
ate us e n t i r e 1 y from our
friend.
The body has finished its la-
bors. Its mission here has been
fulfilled. But the real self—
the real man—was typified by
thoughts, by words, by deeds;
and in these and in the good re-
sulting from them the true self
does not depart as the body,
but remains with us even here
on earth.
With our eyes we shall not
see our friend; with our ears
we shall not hear his voice.
Rut, even so, in the world of
the mind and the heart there
will abide with us here the real
man whom we knew and lov-
ed as Frank Dawson.
While there, all phases of
being done all over the United
States in their line of work .

AWAKE SCHOOL BOARD
Among other things, Falfur-

gressive school hoards that can
be found anywhere. Recog-
nizing the value of the head of
any concern coming in contact
with and absorbing the ideas
of the big men of his profes-
sion in regard to his institution,
the Falfurrias School board is
sending the superintendent to
Washington to the National
meeting of the Superinten-
ent’s Section of the National
Education Association.
This is a common occurence
with the larger schools of Tex-
as, but it takes such a school
board as we have in Falfurrias
to “put the small towns on the
map,” in an educational way.
I we are beginning to recognize
the fact that, “as is the teach-
