RAILROAD NEWS
OF THE WEEK
I. M. Brown .better known as
“Boomer Bill” to the Magazine folks,
was in town Monday for a short visit
with the local Boosters. Mr. Brown
was just down from North Pleasanton
where he organized the Boosters on
the Sausage and reports one of the
largest attendances he has ever had
at the first meeting and plenty of pep
and that they are going to make the
General Office Booster Club No. 1
look out or take second place.
Wednesday was the banner day so
far this season in the vegetable move-
ment—72 cars being moved out on
that day, which brings total shipment
bv freight up to 1520 cars for this
season. With the continued sunshine
the 100 cars per day mark will soon
he reached.
A. J. Gary, Chairman of the Tele-
graphers. returned first of week from
Houston, where lie has been meeting
with l lie management on wage mat
ters.
J. L. Lavallee, representing the
Texas Company, was down from
Houston Tuesday for a short visit
with the Mechanical Department on
matters pertaining to lubricating oils,
etc.
The Rate Department. Statistics and
Freight Departments of the Auditor’s
office iiave moved to their new quar-
ters on first floor of the General Of-
fice building, taking out the partitions
making one large room with Mr. Yel-
ton of the S. A. U. & G. in charge of
the floor. The Ticket Department
which has been down Stairs for sever-
al years moved up stairs in office used
by kate and Statistics Departments.
The Mechanical Department forces
are now comfortably located in their
new office at the shops, with the Stor-
es Department and Mechanical De-
partment office forces in one large
room, making a rather imposing look-
ing office force.
W. A. Mc.VIicheals, A A- 15 Clerk in
Supt. office spent tlie week end with
friends in Houston.
Mrs. V. C. Walker, wife of Conduc-
tor Walker, was operated on at the
hospital on Tuesday for appendicitis
and reports from the hospital are that
she is getting along very nicely.
L. 1). Lewis, Traveling Timekeep-
er, who has been with us for the past
week, spent the week end in Houston.
W. B. (’room, Conductor on tlie Mis-
sion-Fordyce local run was up for a
few days the past week trying out I he
main line for a few days just to keep
in practice he says.

Edinburg Branch, has bid in the Rio
