Falfurrias and Falfurrias Land.
Probably at no time in the

AS OTHERS SEE US
The following from the Taft Tribune shows how
people feel towards Falfurrias after having navigated
Rice street.
Now, honestly if you should go through a strange
town and its streets were like Falfurrias’ streets would
you not think that was a mighty bum town and want to
get away as soon as possible?
‘Falfurrias has been doing some building. There
is talk of a new hotel. But really, about the best invest-
ment Falfurrias could make would be for all the busi-
ness houses to close up some day. and everybody take a
pick and shovel and get out and level off the streets.
They are worse than the rockey road in Doublin and
the best advertisement the town could invest in would be
to level up its streets and keep them in a passable condi-
tion. They remind one of the tin can alley road which
used to lead into Corpus from the North. Falfurrias
has one of the best creameries in Texas, and has a num-
ber of good stores. It enjoyes a big merehantile business
and could well afford to keep its streets in a passable
condition. Before it talks about any other improve
ment, it owes it to the public to build some streets, mod-
ern streets .then perhaps outside people might be tempt-
ed to stop there and invest. It really could be
made an attractive town, has good water, and a. regular
garden for fucking, citrus fruit and d. irying. We sin-
cerely hope the good old town may wake up.”

PLAYSLEADING
ROLE THURSDAY
Again Falfurrias scores a
new triumpth.
Again the ‘live wires” of
Falfurrias put the town and
country in the lime light of
publicity and caused thousands
to talk and comment favorably
about Falfurrias, and the pa-
pers of San Antonio to devote
much space to telling about
Falfurrias and Falfurrias peo-
; pie.
It was San Antonio’s celebra-
tion but Falfurrias played one
of the principal parts.
Wednesday evening at Fal
ed different Falfurrias people
as follows:
‘Ed. Rachal, Cattleman: *‘f
think I’ll quit cattle and start
a truck farm when we get the
connecting road to San Anton-
io, and the Lower Y’alley.”
W. W. Sloan, Postmaster:
“We worked a long time for the
road, and now that we have it
let’s be thankful.”
J. L. C. Beaman, Edwards
Publishing Co.: —“Goodbye
California grapefruit —Texas
is going to come in for some
publicity along that line now.*
Mrs. T. S. Proctor: “San An-
Monday Falfurrias peo-
ple took a long step for-
ward.
By a vote of 156 for
and only 7 against they
went on record before the
eyes of the world that
they are not only in fav-
or of good schools but are
willing to make great sac-
rifices to secure such
schools.
The voting of $85,000
additional bonds for
school purposes for the
Falfurrias Independent
School District does call
for a sacrifice on the part
cf the people of this com-
munity.
This is a new communi-
ty and like all new com-
munities the people have
many demands made up-
on them for needed im-
provements. For the peo-
ple to voluntarily assume
an additional burden of
$85,000.00 with their oth-
er outstanding
obligations evidences, un-
mistakeably, that the peo-
ple of the Falfurrias In-
dependent School District
are of the salt of the earth.
It would have been a
credit to the community
had the bends carried by a
bare majority, but carry-
ing by the overwhelming
vote that was registered
reflects far greater credit
on the community than
otherwise.
Again FACTS declares
,to all the world that the
people of Falfurrias Land
are the best people in the
world, and fortunate in-
deed is the man who
dwells among them.

and the placards strung on the
different cars carrying the Fal-

Edinburg Booster Club.
The visitors were then dis-

the St. Anthony Hotel Roof

At the banquet interesting
talks dealing with the fightj
made to secure the extension of
the Southern Pacific were
made by President Morrison of
the San Antonio Chamber of
Commerce, VV. R. Scott, Presi-
dent of the Southern Pacific!
systent, and J. H. Tallichet, I
General Attorney.
Representatives of the dif-
ferent communities present
made short two minute talks,
mid it is remarkable the good
ideas that were brought out by
some of the speakers in so
short a time.
Ed. C. Lasater spoke for Fal-
furrias.
Many of the Falfurrias dele-
gation were interviewed by the
San Antonio papers, each edi-
tion during the day having a
number of interviews with the
Falfurrias people. One edition
of the San Antonio Light quot-
Valley will push California off
the way before long.”
T. R. Bennett, Banker: ‘San

friend, and wo are sure grate-

J. C. Thomas, Rea! Estate:
“Real Estate? Why, gosh, t
haven’t thought about it in a
month. I’ve been too interest-
ed in other things.”
W. I). Bottenfield, Premont,
Merchant: We join in with San
Antonio in celebrating the S.
P. extension. All of you will
benefit as much as we shall, if
not more.”
C. T. Hewitt, Farmer: We
farmers are sometimes hard up
for money, but we won’t be
wlym the road gets in and we
can market our produce.
A number of the Falfurrias
people had their pictures in the
local San Antonio papers.
