MRS. CORINNE KAY INJURED
IN DALLAS TRAFFIC CRASH
Mrs. Corinne Kay who has been
visiting her daughter, Mrs. O. M.
Eaves, in Dallas, was involved in
a traffic accident Monday in Dal-
las. Mrs. Kay and Mrs. Eaves
were both injured and hospitalized
in Baylor Hospital. Mrs. Kay
suffered severe bruises and a
fractured hand. Mrs. Eaves was
less seriously hurt. Mrs. Kay had
planned to return to Groom about
Feb. 1 but her return home will
probably be delayed until she is
recovered from the effects of the
accident. Her room number at
Baylor hospital, Dallas, is 458. The
address of her daughter is 6859
South Ridge, Dallas, Tex.

GOS KOETTING, HOME
Gos Koetting returned home
Monday from Amarillo where he
spent 18 days in St. Anthony hos-
pital and a week in the home of
his daughter, Mrs. John Kempf,
recovering from major surgery.
Gos is feeling fine and is well on
the road to recovery.

The Blanche Groves WMU cir-
cle of the First Baptist Church
met at the home of Mrs. T. G.
Fields Tuesday morning, Jan 4, i
for the regular Bible study and
social meeting.
Those present were Mmes. Rus-
ty Ward, Rudolph Tucker, Sa-
fronia Jackson, Leroy Frederik-
•sen, Chas. Brown, and the hostess.

BROKEN ELBOW REPAIRED
Melvin Kirk, 11-year-old son of
Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Inmon, was
able to return to' school Monday
with his arm in a sling, after un-
dergoing surgery to repair a frac-
tured elbow at Northwest Texas
Hospital, Amarillo, Wednesday of
last week. Melvin crushed his el-
bow in a fall from a combine on
which he was playing about three
weeks ago. Additional surgery
will be necessary later it is re-
ported.

In a double-ring ceremony at
9 o’clock on Thursday morning*
Dec. 30, in St. Mary’s Church,
Groom, Marilyn Hermesmeyer,
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles
Hermesmeyer and John Quirk,
son of Mr. and Mrs. Jean Quirk,
were united in marriage. Rev.
Andrew Quante read the nuptial
mass. White Chrysanthemums
and carnations decorated the al-
tar. Georgann Britten played the
wedding march and Rosemary
Homer was organist for the mass.
The bride, given in marriage by
her father, wore a waltz-length
gown of white net over satin withi
fitted bodice of Chantilly lace.
Her finger-tip veil of tulle was
held in place by a small hat trim-
med in sequins. Her only orna-
ment was a rhinestone necklace, a
gift of the bridegroom. She car-
ried a prayer book tapped with a
white orchid.
Teresa Homer, cousin of the |
bride, was maid of honor, wearing
a gown of toast net over taffeta.
Shirley Quirk, sister of the bride-
groom and Evelyn Hermesmeyer,
cousin of the bride, were brides-
maids, wearing gowns of beige net
over taffeta. Each wore small
white hats with sequins and car-
ried bouquets of roses and carna-
tions.
Jack Quirk, brother of the'
bridegroom, was best man. Robert
Hermesmeyer, brother of the
bride, and Ronald Homer, cousin
of the bride, were groomsmen.
Ushers were W. H. Ollinger and
Gene Hermesmeyer. Gerald and
Martin Hermesmeyer served as
acolytes.
The bride’s mother wore a navy
blue linen suit and the bride-
groom’s mother wore a black faille
I dress. Their corsages were of pink
I carnations.
[ Following the ceremony, a re-
ception was held in the parish
hall. Mary Lou Quirk presided at
the guest book. Mildred Koetting
served the wedding cake and Sue
Ollinger and Bernice Brown
served punch and coffee.
The bride is a graduate of
Groom High School. The bride-
groom recently received his dis-
charge from the. armed forces aft-
er serving for two years. After
the wedding trip to San Antonio,
Tex,, the couple will be at home
in Groom.

suffered a .broken arm in a bi-
cycle accident during the Christ-
mas holidays.

tending to business in Groom
Monday.

returned Sunday from Nebraska
where they spent the holidays vis-
iting relatives of Mrs. Britten.
