always ready to enjoy the dls-
comforture of the next victim.
While the guests were being en-
tertained in this way, in the
Lodge Room two tables were
laid, extending the full length of
tha.reoeptSon hall, and a delic-
ious repast was served. All the
substantiate as well as the daint-
ies of the season were provided
in the greatest abundanoe, and
every one seemed to have a good
appetite and to be able to do full
justice to the bountiful repast.
„ After supper the guests began
to disperse to their homes, and
sought rest and sleep, while toe
enthusiastic small boy endeavor-
ed to oontribute his share to-
wards the amusement, on the
populaoe, by making the night
hideous with the clang of bells.

In February, 1901, the great
sorrow of his life oame upon him,
when his beloved wife was takon
from him by death, dying of
pneumonia February 9, 1901.
Three little daughters were left
to his oare. Resigning his pos-
ition in the hank, ha devoted his
time and attention to his child-
ren, thus endeavoring to supply
a mother's, as well'to ^father's,
place to the home. The unsel-
fish, loving devotion of this
lather was the most beautiful ex-
hibition of paternal love that it
hat ever been the toiler's privil-

1908, Mr. Craig, was elected rul-
ing elder to the Presbyterian
church of Graham, and was or-
dained and installed in this office
on the 24to of May*
For more than three years of
very intimate acquaintance and
warm, personal friendship be-
tween the writer and the subject

and while out there found the
people panto stricken over the
lops of an imported mammoth
Christmas turkey, whioh belong-
ed to Mr. ^Whitfield, a well to do
farmer and stock, raiser of Vic-
tory community, and a man who

and other ebuniice. When Mr.
Whitfield took charge of the
turkey and built a stable and put
him in, some 800 yards from his
house, this gave the leg pullers
a chance, which resulted fatally
with the.turkey and unfortunae-
ty for Mr. Whitfield, who arose
early Christmast morning to find
the stable toeoked and the tur-
