There is quite a bit happening
this week at St. Paul, but before we
go into those details, we need to
take just a little space to thank our
evangelism committee for the ex-
cellent work that was done for our
evening of spiritual renewal.
Thanks go to Helen Witte, Dorothy
Schuehle, Marvin Beyer, Nelwyn
Borgens, Joyce Krenmueller, coun-
cil representative Vic Freier, and es-
pecially to committee chairperson,
Elsie Heath. Thank You all for
such a wonderful evening. We look
forward to our next opportunity.
This Sunday, after church ser-
vices, we have scheduled a meeting
for all parents and young people
who will be involved in the Junior
Lutherans program this year. All
kids from grades 3-6 are involved.
We will meet for approximately a
half hour to talk about the shape of
the Junior Lutherans for the coming
year. We will also be asking par-
ents to sign-up to host the group
for each monthly meeting. These
meetings will be scheduled for the
second Sunday for each month.
Please be there if you can.
November is stewardship month
at St. Paul. We will begin an educa-
tional series called "Lord, teach us
to give" this Sunday in adult Bible
classes. This study will look at
stewardship not only from the point
of view of giving time, talents, and
treasurers to the church, but also
from the point of view of taking
care of the gifts that God has given
us to use in our daily lives. Steward-
ship is what you do with what you
have. Our response to God's grace
is first and foremost as custodians
of His gifts to us. All adult classes
will join together for this unique
look at the way we live.
Sunday evening, joint commit-
tees from St. Paul, Hondo; Bethle-
hem, Quihi; and Zion, Castroville,
will be meeting together to plan a
joint worship service and Sunday
school to be held at the Medina
County Fair Hall on January 10,
1988. This service is to celebrate
the historic occasion of the birth of
the Evangelical Lutheran Church in
America. Please mark your calen-
dars. January 10th promises to be a
joyous and festive day for all.
"Come, share the Spirit" with us
that day.
Getting ready for Sunday: Our les-
sons for Sunday will be Psalm 96,
Isaiah 45:1-7, I .ssalonians 1:1-
5a, and Matthew 22:15-21. Pastor
Luke's sermon will be "Render to
God what is God's" and will be
based on Matthew 22:15-21. Dur-
ing worship on Sunday, we will
also be dedicating the new stoles
purchased by the Altar Guild.
