SOCIAL SECURITY
“Although not everyone wants
to retire as soon as he reaches re
tirement age, everyone wants to
to get his social security checks
promptly when he does,” John
D. Palmer, Manager of the San
Antonio social security office
said.
“We are the social security of-
fice are glad,” he said, “to give
specific help and information
where it is needed whether in
proving age or any other phas-
es of establishing entitlement to
benefits. Because we are inter-
ested in paying claims promptly,
we urge future applicants to give
some time and thought to plann-
ing ahead for retirement.”
By consulting the social secur-
ity office by phone or mail two
to three months before he re-
tires, the prospective claimant
can find out what papers he
needs and get everything in or-
der in good time. This way
there should be no delay in the
mailing of his first check.
Detailed information and free
booklets on the social security
program can also be obtained
from your social security repre-
sentative, Mrs. Sybil A. Boland,
who will be in Boerne, Texas, at
the DPW Building on Thursday,
December 17, 1964 at 9 a. m.

MEETING OF MINNIE
DAVIS CIRCLE AND
CHRISTMAS EXCHTNGE
The Minnie Davis Circle met
in the home of Zelma Blackburn
Thursday afternoon, December
3rd with seventeen members and
one guest present. The beautiful
fall leaves and manger scene set
the mood for an afternoon of
holiday cheer.
Meeting opened with prayer
by Dorothy Lewis.
Our chairman, Zelma Black-
burn presided at the business
meeting. Alma Toepperwein re-
ported she had contacted Mr.
Sachs and he said Mrs. Sachs
would very much appreciate hav-
ing some permanent flowers.
Estelle Miller and Leah Bundy
were appointed to buy them in
the name of the Woman’s Socie-
ty and bring them to Mr. Sachs
office. The group also voted to
send Mrs. Austin a permanent
flower arrangement.
Mary Easley reminded the
ladies about the meeting of the
United Church Women on Fri-
day, January 8, 1965 at 9:30 A.
M. at Leon Springs Presbyter-
ian Church. At this time, a most
impressive prayer was given by
Dorothy Lewis, remembering in-
dividually those families who are
distressed or ill locally as well as
throughout the world.
We were reminded to leave
books for the Hill Top Village,
Kerrville, either at the Church
or Lester’s Conoco Service Sta-
tion.
