For the contest, each 4-H
entrant will compete in one of
four classes, including main
dish, side dish, breads and
desserts, or snacks and
beverages
"Because the foods and
nutrition program focuses on
nutrition, each contestant will
have to demonstrate what she
or he knows about nutrition,
meal planning, food buying and
meal service, as well as
preparation techniques," Miss

TO HOLD OPEN HOUSE
Branch 16 of Hochheim Prairie Farm Mutual Insurance
Association in Tynan. Texas, will hold an open house at their office
building on November 5th from 2 00 to 5 00 P V The Branch has
recently completed an addition of 408 Sq Ft of office space to
provide for storage and Sales Representative work area ALL
members are urged to come and see the numerous changes made
to serve the membership more efficiently The Branch now has for
instance, five Sales Representatives writing insurance in addition
to the Manager The telephone system has an additional line with
rotating numbers from 547-3291 to 547-3292 Branch 16 was
organized in Skidmore Texas, on April 2. 1910 with 13 charter
members and $6,415 in insurance A D Mueller served as the
Branch's first Secretary Manager until 1916 Herman Jostes. Sr
served from 1917 to 1957 Following him were Ed Stndde-1957
to 1961, Alton Finke- 1962 thru May of 1973 and John Osborn
from June 1973 thru Dec of 1977
In 1953. the Branch built what is now the Tynan Recreation
Club Hall and in 1969 built the original portion of the present of-
fice building The building now has 1 288 Sq Ft of office
space
The Branch has had a steady growth rate over the years and
has especially accelerated m growth since the early 1970 s to the
present membership of over 1 800 members and $58 000.000 in
insurance Branch 16 serves Bee. San Patricio Live Oak and parts
of other surrounding counties
Serving on the local Board of Directors at present are Milton
Kircher (Pres.), Henry C. Lohse (Vice-Pres). Frank Jostes. H H.
Laechelm, Jr., Lee Roy Marburger John Osborn and John
Schneider Lucian Jalufka has been Manager since January 1st of
this year with Norma Landgrebe as Assistant Refreshments will
be served to visitors during the open house
