were Sunday night guests of the
Conrad Bechtolds in San Anto-
nio.
Mrs. Flo Walker’s 10 year old
twin grandsons, Mitchell and
Michael Short from Austin are
visiting her for a few days.
Mr. and Mrs. Frank Brussel
and boys, Mr. and Mrs. Vernon
Litton, and Mr. and Mrs. E. C.
Krause were guests of Mr. and
Mrs. Tip Wagner of Blanco.
Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Esser of
Kendalia spent the day in Bur-
net Sunday visiting Mr. and Mrs.
C. V. McKnight.
A father’s day dinner was
given by Mr. and Mrs. Frank
Heidrich. Their guests were Mr.
and Mrs. Jack Haynes and Brad
James of New Braunfels, Mr.
and Mrs. Warren Smith of Blan-
co, and Mr. and Mrs. N. L. Sch-
neider, Patricia and Ray of
Houston.
Guests of Mr. and Mrs. Arth-
ur Esser and Jack Saturday
were Mrs. Jim Bierschwale of
Comfort, Mr. and Mrs. Bob Well-
born of Uvalde, and Mr. and
Mrs. Joe Morrison and children
of Smithson Valley.
Mr. and Mrs. Pius Bartsch at-
tended her nephew’s wedding
Saturday night at Geronimo.
The reception was at Saenger
Hall in New rBaunfels.
Mr. and Mrs. Bill Mathis and
family were hosts for a chicken
Bar-b-q Sunday. Those attend-
ing were Mr. and Mrs. Jack
Duke and Mrs. P. D. Mathis of
San Antonio, Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd
Hobrecht and Lelia Ann of
Blanco, Mr. and Mrs . Emil
Kneupper and Karla, and Jack
Esser of Kendalia.
Mr. and Mrs. N. L. Schneider,
Patricia and Ray of Houston
are spending this week at their
place in Kendalia.
This wek is the last week to

Leonard have returned to their
home at Kingsville after a visit
here in the home of Mrs. Rose
Kemp.
Mrs. Katie Kiley of San An-
tonio visited Mrs. Wm. Schwarz
here on Saturday. That evening
they attended the 0. E. Behr
Golden Wedding Anniversary at
Sisterdale.

Nursing Home had as visitors
last Thursday, his sister, Mrs.
Charlie Umlang and niece Mr.
and Mrs. Rud. Niemeyer.
Mr. Henry and Ernest Ohlen-
busch of Sweetwater, Texas vis-
ited with their uncle Mr. Frank
Krause in Friendship Nursing
Home last Tuesday.
Weeked visitors in the M. M.
Lane home were Mr. and Mrs.
R. W. Barefield and Connie and
Daryl of Midland, Mr. and Mrs.
J. E. Barefield, Kay, Bobbye,
and Jimmy and Mrs. Ruth Bare-
field of Pleasanton, Mr. and Mrs.
A. R. Taylor, Jr., Tammy and
Lane of Ingram.
“500” CARD CLUB
Mrs. A. C. Richter on Thurs-
day entertained members of the
“500” club at her home.
The usual games were played
at the close when scores were
counted Mrs. Ella Clemens was
high, Mrs. Bodo Holekamp, sec-
ond and Mrs. Emil Richter re-
ceived consolation prize.
The hostess served salad, cake
and coffee after the games.
C. M. Sgt. H. F. Krause and
daughter Jane of Olathe, Kan-
sas, are spending the week with
the Frank Krause family.
ARRIVE FROM ARGENTINA
Mr. and Mrs. Earl Gurtler and
children, Ann and Jeffrey are
here from Buenos Aires, Argen-
tina, visiting her mother, Mrs.
H. A. Miller and the Gene Haas
family.
Mrs. Gurtler arrived earlier
for the Prep School Graduation
of their son Ronald in Connecti-
cut. They will be in the States
until sometime in August. In the
interim they plan to visit his
family in New Orleans and
friends in and near New York.
Mr. and Mrs. Byron Higgins
and children, Renai and Randy
are arriving from Las Cruces,
during the weekend for a visit
with the Gurtlers, Mrs. Miller
and the Haas family.
ACCEPTED AT CORNELL
Miss Donna Lynn Toepper-
wein, daughter of Col. Clifton
R. Toepperwein (USAF, Ret.)
and Mrs. Toepperwein of 25
North St. Granby has been ac-
cepted at Cornell Univ., Ithaca,
N. Y. She is one of thirty girls
chosen from outrof-state to en-
ter the freshman class where
she will study Home Economics.
Miss Toepperwein has been a
member of the National Honor
Society; co-editor of the high
school newspaper, Student Pri-
nts; member of the yearbook
staff, cheerleaders, gymnastic
team and several school singing
groups. In 1963 she was one of
20 young people chosen by the
Massachusetts Pilgrim Fellow-
ship as a representative to Puer-
to Rico. She attended the Mass-
achusetts Girls’ State and has
received a letter of commenda-
tion from the National Merit
Scholarship program.
Miss Toepperwein is the gran-
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. R. H.
Toepperwein of Boerne and Mr.
and Mrs. M. A. Lovelady, Port
Arthur.

HELOTES DANCE
FRIDAY NIGHT
A dance and floor show Fri-
day, June 26, at the Floore
Country Store in Helotes will
feature the return of jazz trum-
pet player Don Albert and his
New Orleans Jazz Band.
Albert, the first trumpet for
the legendary Troy Floyd Or-
chestra of recording fame sev-
eral decades ago, in the 1930s
was leader of the big-time jazz
band that played at old Shadow-
land Night Club in San Antonio
and later toured the country.
Friday night’s public dance
will be Albert’s third appearance
at the Floore Country Store. His
appearance last May with his all
new orchestra was a tremendous
success.
