Church Council meeting Thur
sday night, July 2, at 8:00 P. M.
In Acts 11:26 we read as fol-
lows: “In Antioch the disciples
were for the first time called
Christians.” Here, for the first
time in the hisotry of the world,
a group of people were given the
name of Christians. The gospel
of Jesus Christ had but recently
come to these people who had
grown up in paganism, without
any knowledge of the true and
only God. To their everlasting
glory it must be said that their
life, day by day, squared with
their newly found faith. They
really reflected the spirit of
Christ, and the world round a-
bout them sat up and took no-
tice. Here was a new and differ-
ent and noble class of people.
They served Christ. They lived
with and for Christ. In our day
were church membership is held
to be the same as being a Chris-
tian. How wrong! If our church
membership does not bring
Christ into us, then we are still
lost souls. Apart from him we
are nothing; only Christ can
make us Christian.
