on ‘ African Violets and Ferns '. A covered-dish
luncheon will follow the meeting.

of Garden Clubs building in Corpus Christi.

The program will be “A Meeting of the Min
ds”, put on by the schedule committee This will
be an explanation of the Festival of Flowers
schedules committee’s ideas when writing the
artistic design classes and also a discussion of
horticulture division rules, and preparing en-

Wiener Schnitzel - The Real Thing

Of course most folks are
aware that the teal thing has
nothing at all to do with the
franchise outlet calling itself
approximately the same thing
The real thing being made
from veal and Ihe other being
hot dogs in some form or
another Are you confused’’
Well then here is an authentic
recipe for
WIKNFIt M HMTZF.I.
2 lbs veal sfeak < cut 1. inch
thick I
Salt and pepper
Cracker or bread crumbs
I egg beaten with2 lbs water
II cup butter or fat
lemon juice
6 eggs
Cut veal in 6 pieces for
serving Sprinkle with salt and
pepper, dip in cracker or bread
crumbs, then beaten eggs and
again m crumbs Let stand for
15 minutes Fry on both sides in
butter until a golden brown,
cover and finish cooking at a
low temperature about 30
minutes longer until tender
Fry eggs Sprinkle meat with
lemon juice and garnish w ith a

margarine

2 tbs lemon juice

Salad oil
Soak apples overnight Drain
and rinse well Cover apples
with water and cook about 1
hour until soft, drain Add
remaining ingredients, mash
to combine Roll out pasty on
waxed paper, one-third at a
time Cut out pastry circles,
using a 5-inch saucer as a
measure Place about 3 Tbs of
apple mixture on half of each
pastry circle To seal pies, dip
fingers in water and moisten
edges of circles, fold in half,
making sure «*dges are even
Csing a fork dipped in flour,
press pastry edges firmly
together Heat I inch of salad
oil fo 375 degrees Cook pies
until golden brown on both
sides, turning only once Drain
well on (taper towels
about 1' dozen

t ine-third cup shortening

1 cup buttermilk
Combine flour, soda, and
baking powder; cut in shor-
tening until mixture resembles

and buttermilk add to flour
mixture Knead until smooth
Yield pastry for about I'a
dozen 19 inchi pies
