[has rolled up 10 straight vie
tories this year with the West
! Oso Bears the last to face his
bag of tricks
Wynn allowed the Bears two
hits as he shut them out 5-0 He
gave up only one walk and
struck out seven to run his
record for the year to 10-1
The Cats jumped on the Bear
pitcher in the first inning as
CupeOchoa drew a walk. Kelly
Johnson singled and Steve
Weise singled to clear the
bases Weise move around and
stole home to give the boys
three runs in the opening in-
nings
The Bears got one of their
two hits in the first inning but
Wynn settled down and struck
out the last man with two men
on base
In the fourth inning, the Cats
picked up their other two runs
when Brad Renfro drew a walk
to open the inning Ben Salinas
laid down a good punt and Leo
CHAN FLOYD is the designated hitter tor the Cats this year
and has proven to be reliable when a hit is needed
Rodriguez got on base on a
fielders choice Both scored on
a couple of errors, a stolen base
and a couple of past balls
This Friday the Cats will
play at home at 4 p m against
the Calallen Wildcats

Bulsterbaum
Takes Second
Robin Bulsterbaum and
Marlene Sayre represented
Corpus Christ! Roadrunners at
the Texas AAM Marathon
Saturday. April 29
Over l ,000 runners competed
in the race which included
quarter, half and full marathon
distances.
Miss Bulsterbaum placed
second in the women s 14 and
under division of the half
marathon (13 miles). Miss
Sayre placed first in the
women's 14 and under division
of the full marathon (26 miles)
with a time of four hours and 27
seconds
The next event sponsored by
Corpus Christi Roadrunners is
the Armed Forces Day Relay
Marathon to be held in Corpus
Christi May 20 Marlene and
Robin will compete with a rel-
ay team of Portland residents
composed of Leslie Cowan,
Mark Sampson and Stan and
Darryl Meyers

Two-Hitter For Wynn
Sterling Wynn put another
notch in his record last
Thursday as he shot down the
Tuloso Warriors with two hits
to win the game 7-2
Wynn got a big assist from
the big bats of Ben Salinas and
Scott Weise who each belted
out a single run homer
G-P broke through the
Warrior's defense in the second
inning when Chan Floyd
opened with a single, moved
around on Brad Renfro’s hit.
and came home on a grounder
by Leo Rodriguez They added
another run in the fifth when
Salinas knocked his homerun
The Warriors tied the score
up at 2-2 when they put
together one hit. a walk, a hit
batter and a couple of Cat
errors to get on the score
board
In the sixth inning, things
went for the Cats as Floyd and
Renfro drew walks A couple of
wild pitches, a passed ball and
an error them four runs They
fattened the 6-2 lead in the top
of the seventh when Scott
Weise sailed his homer over
the fence to make the final
score 7-2
G-P's Ladycat track team,
under the direction of Miss
Janice Mitchell, will be in
Austin this Friday taking part
in the girls state track meet
G-P qualified six for the
meet, the largest number of
girls from the school ever to
reach the top meet
leading the team will be the
sprint relay team composed of
Tammy Shaw. Rita Ramirez,
Carolyn Molina and Renee
Justice They placed second in
the regional meet with a time
of so 5 The running events will
start at 7:30 p m Friday, May
5. and the sprint relay will be
the first race
Hope Wilson, who placed
second in the mile at regions
will perform Friday night The
Wynn allowed two hits,
walked eight, and struck out
seven in winning his ninth
game of the season He lost his
opening game and has been
winning ever since

to the state meet last year,
will be back again in the high

school early Friday morning
