Rutherford have opened a
consignment, antique and gift
shop in Portland called The
Treasure Chest
"This is something we have
both wanted to do for a long
lime and we wanted it in
Portland The city is growing
and is an excellent place for a
shop such as ours Portland is
full of friendly people with a lot
of talent", the ladles stated
Neither of these ladies are
new to Portland As many
foreign fishing Is permitted
within the iKXymile zone and
fishing vessels will be boarded
at random to ensure com-
pliance with restrictions and
regulations The new. 200-mile
zone represents a four fold
increase in fishery patrols for
the Coast Guard
Tyler joined the Navy in
February 1959

enforce the 200-mile fishery
conservation zone which went
into effect March 1
He is serving as a
crewmember aboard the Coast
Guard cutter Sedge,
homeported in Homer. Alaska
The new law, known as the
Fishery Conservation and
Management Act of 1976, give^
the United States exclusive
control of all waters within the
200 mile zone The Coast Guard
and the National Marine
Fisheries Service have been
charged with enforcement of
the zone, which includes 10 per
cent of the world's fishery
resources
Coast Guard cutters and
patrol aircraft will make
regular patrols of fishery areas
to monitor foreign fishing

Del Mar
"An Evening of Dance" will
lie presented by the Del Mar
Dancers Thursday and Friday,
April 7 and 8. at 8 p m in the
Del Mar College Auditorium
The concert will consist of
modem dance choreographies
designed and performed by
students and special guest
artist
Portland residents who will
perform with the Del Mar
Dancers are Richard I-andry,
Eve Curington and Jenny
Swain.
Among the special guest
performers is The Branch
Academy Ballet Theatre of
Portland They will perform
two modern dance
choreographies in the concert.
"Aquarium" and "Flight of
Life".
Tickets for "An Evening of
Dance" are *1 lor adults and 50
cents for children under 12.
They may be purchased from
any Del Mar dancer or at the
box office the night of the
performance

Have you recently been thinking that you have seen
people in little red shirts walking up and down the street
selling popcorn? Well, you were right' The Symphonic Band
has been selling popcorn this last week to raise some money,
and for those of you who bought some, did they tell you what
the funds were for’ The Symphonic Band is raising money in
order to attend the Six Flags Invitational Music Festival in
May Since this is invitational only Sweepstakes Bands from
all over are invited to compete in the contest
I want to take this opportunity to thank the many of you
who brought us a step doner to the festival' You don't know
how much we appreciate it!
Also, for those of you who don't know already, the G-P
Bands traveled to U I L band contest week before last and it
proved to be successful for both bands The concert band, led
by Mr Medina, went to contest Thursday and received a (I
iExcellent! in concert and a I 'superior in sightreading
These were very commendable ratings for the band con-
sidering how hard the judging was
The Symphonic Band then left at a very early 5:30 a m
for contest and came home with our 12th Sweepstakes' We
were so proud' Well, once again, thank you for helping us
with our popcorn and you'll be hearing more about Six Flags
The Wildcat Band w ishes you a very Happy Easter Bye'
