Finishing second in the two
categories were Troy Zeringue with
127 laps and Dawn Vandver with 128.
Raising the most money in the
men’s category, and overall, was J.
Rice, who pulled in a total of $656. In
the women’s category, Leah Bdrnett
raised the most money with $510.
To help keep an official account of
laps completed, several people
volunteered to act as counters.
Acting as counters for the
Swimathon were James Primeaux,
Diana Cole, Gene Hunter, Marie
Shepherd, Dr. Rick Kelley, Kelly
Kelley, George Stoker, Joe
Richardson, Matt Richardson,
Delores Sanders and NLCACS
President Grace Childers.
Lillie Marion, in her 18th year as
NLCACS Crusade Chairperson, was
pleased with the results of the event,
but pointed out their crusade goal
has not been reached.
“I was really pleased with the
Swimathon,” Marion said. “This
was our first one. In the past we’ve
had bikathons and those kinds of
things. But after so long a time,
people get tired of doing the same
thing. So this is the first year we did
this.
“Having the new city park was
nice, too. And we really appreciate
the city for letting us use the pool.
The volunteers from Charter
Hospital really did a good job for us.
A lot of their personnel helped us a
lot.”
Marion said at the present time,
the NLCACS has approximately
$2,500 toward their goal. She also
said they expect the Swimathon,
after all pledges have been honored,
to have raised around $3,000.
The fund-raising campaign hasn’t
stopped, however. The NLCACS has
plans for other up-coming events.
These include a raffle for a quilt,
raffles for $100 of groceries from
Brookshire Bros, and Holiday Foods
and a fish fry.
As a filial comment, Marion urged
everyone who has not yet honored
their pledge for the Swimathon to do
so.
Opening
Present for the ribbon cutting for American
Security Investigation were Darlene

Lenon Futch, Chuck Foster, Jeff Dill, Frank

"When you have a heat pump, you use less
energy. That's because a heat pump is highly
efficient in both the heating and cooling
seasons. And you pay less to run it. Same
comfort, less energy. A heat pump won't
change your life, but it will give you more
control over your energy expenses."
For more information, see a heat pump
dealer and ask about the Centsable
system for adding comfort to
your home.
