the situation was aggravated
by the wet weather conditions
during the winter months The

The contest has been held
previously in the Victoria area,
but was moved to Gregory-
Portland because of better

To Speak At Annual Banquet
Bill Woodhouse, former world record holder in track, will Olympics
be the featured speaker at the Gregory-Portland Booster
Club's fourth annual spring banquet at 7:30 p m Monday,
April 25. in the high school cafeteria
Now a salesman in Corpus Christi, Woodhouse was a 9 4
sprinter in the 100-yard dash in 1955
After high school graduation at Mason City, Iowa, he got
a scholarship to Abilene Christian College His four years at
ACC were filled with honors for him and his teammates
He ranked as high as Kith internationally in the 100-yard
and 100 meter dashes and fourth iniemalionally in the 220-
yard and 200-meter dashes
Three other runners and Woodhouse established world
records in the 440- and 880-yard relays Their best time in the
440 yard relay was 39 5 and I 22 6 in the 880 yard relay
Woodhouse's best lime in the loo-yard dash was 9 I and
19 9 in the 200-yard dash His teammate during most of this
time was Bobhy Morrow, a three gold medal winner in the

In 1959, Woodhouse ran undefeated in the 100- and 220-
yard dashes on a European tour He was also a member of
the winning 400 meter relay in the Pam American games

The varsity athleles in volleyball, basketball, cross
country, track, baseball, swimming, tennis and golf will
receive one free ticket each for the banquet
All these members will be introduced and all honors won

The booster club is hoping the public will buy their
tickets and join the club in honoring these athletes
