space for everthing
with special compartments for
keeping vegetables and meat
The new electric refrigerators are
modern home storage plants, de-
signed to keep every kind of food
that needs refrigeration by the
method best suited to it. For exam-
ple, vegetables and fruits are kept
by themselves, in a compartment
that provides the right amount of
humidity to keep' them crisp and
fresh. Meats are stored in another
compartment, at the low tempera-
ture that prevents spoiling. Frozen
foods are kept frozen in still an-
other section. And in addition
there is roomy shelf space for left-
overs, desserts, milk, eggs, butter,
and all the other things* you keep
in the refrigerator. All these fea-
tures provide real economy in food
budgeting. Come in and see the
hanidsome new refrigerators to-
day. ■**

Girls Who Would Be Boys
The National Conference on
Social Work was recently told
that many girls wish they were
boys, because they feel that pre-
ference is shown to boys in the
home and community. Is such a
preference shown here in White
Deer and elsewhere?
Is the modern girl slighted and
pushed into the background, be-
cause of sex limitations?
If you watch her, you will
doubt if her sex is any handicap.
Her smiling face and gracous
ways have thawed out many hard
boiled hearts. The man who can I
say “No” to her must have some j
iqo in his make-up.
Obseiwe a pack of boys buzzing
around some young lady. Will she
have any difficulty in making her
way? They say she can always
fascinate a man by listening
how wonderful he is. But if she
takes a business or shop job, and
depends on the allurement of her
make-up and her witching smiles
rather than on ability to do her
work, you can see her finish.
EXPERTS SUGGEST OIL
INDUSTRY ADVERTISING
Institutional advertising should
be adopted by the petroleum in-
dustry as an established policy
and a well-planned’ advertising
program faithfully c 'a r r i e d
through, it was recommended to
the American Petroleum Institute
by Paul Truesdell, of Universal
Oil Products Co., Chicago, 111.
Truesdell told Public Relations
group of the Institute’s 10th Mid-
Year meeting in the Texas and
Blackstone Hotels here that ‘ ‘ the
same advertising, merchandising
methods that so effectively have
sold our products, just effectively
can achievements, its leaders and
its honesty.”
The petroleum industry is do-
ing a good job for the people it
employs, for those who distribute
its products, and for consumers,
farmers and other industries, said
Treuseli, but the people do not
fuly appreciate the situtation be-
cause they never have been told
adequately and because they are
willing to listen to “traducers of
the industry because they think
—making too much money.”
“Institutional all-industry ad-
vertising is primarily the way to
put the true story of the industry
and the oil companies before the
people,” asserted Trhesell. “Ad-
vertising in the oil papers to
reach tire people employed in the
industry, advertising in general
media to reach those outside the
industry. ’ ’
It is no longer enough to do a
good job and to expect that ac-
complishments will speak for
themselves, he said, 'adding “We
must speak up, straight from the
shoulder, and tell our story and
a good story. We must tell it in
interesting fashion so that people
will read it, understand it, and
believe it.
“The best way to safeguard
our industry is to enlist the peo-
ple we serve as our active
friends. Institutional advertising,
backed wholeheartedly by the en-
tire industry, and followed up by
well—executed 'advertising pro-
grams of individual companies, is
the way to do it.”
