Second place in the tourna-
ment went to a Schiitz team,
sponsored by Schiitz from Cor-
pus Christ!; C. A. White of Alice
won third; and Merretl Lease
of Gregory took fourth place
Leland DuBose. left fielder
for the Outlaws, won the offen-
sive most valuable player
award with the defensive MVP
going to Ruben Flores, also of
the Outlaws
The award for the most,
homeruns hit in the tournament
was shared by Leon Bernson of
the Outlaws and Augie Romero
of Schiitz
Track Team To Run
In Woodsboro June 13
G-P’s AAU track team will
take part in an invitational
meet today (Thursday) in
Woodsboro.
The team, accompanied by
their coaches, will leave the
high school gym about 7:15
a.m. and return yist as soon as
the meet is completed.
Othere meets this summer
include: June 13, E'lour Bluff:
June 18, Ingleside; June 20,
Rockport; and June 27. area
qualifying meet at G-P.
After the area meet, the
South Texas AAU champion-
ship meet will be held on July 2

Banks To Go To Mesquite
County Funds Are Over Spent
Jon Banks, basketball coach
at G-P last year who resigned
at the end of May, has been
hired as head basketball coach
at a new high school at Mes-
quite
Mesquite, which is in the
Dallas growth area, has two 5-
A high schools at the present
tune, in addition to the new one
that Banks will take over. The
new school will only play a
junior varsity schedule next
year but after that there will be
a re-districting of all three high
schools and all will go 5-A.
“1 am very happy about the
move," Banks said as he got
ready to leave Portland “I will
be in complete charge of the
basketball program in the
district, boys and girls;
San Patricio County's
general fund was $13,343 over
budget, according to the mon-
thly report issued by the county
auditor’s office at the first of
the month
Two other funds, the revenue
sharing general and road and
bridge Pot. No. 4, were also
over budget with the rest of 'he
funds all under budget Pet. 4
showed an overage of $17,489
while the revenue sharing was
18.073 over spent
On a whole the county budget
was operating well within
estimates, in fact showed an
excess of 157,340 over budget
The county is operating
under a 1981 budget calling for
an expenditure of $5,342,504.

diture of $445,210 per month
The monthly budgets of the
four precincts is as follows: No.
1, $30,657; No. 2, $35,137; No. 3,
$31,613; and No 4. $33,396
The county has a bonded in-
debtedness. including cer-
tificates of obligation, in the
amount of $6,255,000.
