Poultry and Breeding Farm
Located one and one half miles south of the city of Pampa covering an area of 400 acres, is Cole Poultry and Breeding
Farm. The farm proper covers 5 acres, on which ten buildings are located, facilitating the operation of the farm. Two buildings
devoted to housing the breeding stock. The range is used in grow ing the breeding stock.
Cole Poultry and Breeding Farm supplies a large percentage of hatchery eggs to Cole Hatchery, located in the city of
Pampa at 828 W. Foster. Cole Hatchery annually supplies 150, 000 chicks for the Panhandle.
Constituting the flock of 1,500 on the farm are four breeds: White Rocks, White Wyandottes, Buff Orphingtons, and Rhode
Island Reds. The foundation stock was purchased from Missouri Poultry Farms, at Columbia, Missouri. These raisers of master-
bred strains have been breeders for fifty-one years. Cole Poultry Farm holds the breed certificate on breed of the foundation
stock. These certificates w*ere obtained through years of trap-nes ting which ranged from 188 and 236 eggs per year.
