SHOE PRICES.
Manufacturers of shoes
warn
us that the price will advance
sharply in all footwear in the
near future because of the ad-
vance of the price of hides. We
have made a calculation of how
day styles can be made from one
goat skin and we make it twenty-
six. Of course in addition there
would habe to be a small amount
of cow leather for soles. The av-
erage price of women’s fashion-
able shoes is not less than $10.00.
This would mean that one goat’s
skin wjould make $260 worth of
shoes. The increase in the price
of a goat skin over the price of
1925 is less than 90 cents.
When it comes to men’s shoes
the situation is equally as mys-
tifying. The increase in the price
of a elaf’s hide is about $1.35
since 1925. A calf’s skin will
make about a dozen pair of men’s
shoes. The price at which a good
man’s shoes can be bought now
range from $8.00 to $15.00. But
th eshoe factory man says he must
raise the price because of the in-
creased cost of hides. We hope
he will be as considerable as pos-
-ever, that somewhat offsets the
high price of shoes. They are
made much better than formerly
and will on an average last twice
as long as the shoe of ten years
ago.—Marshall News.

gard to his experience with
Thedford’s Black-Draught:
“About thirty years ago, I

I found it good.
“I used to have a tight feel-
ing in my chest, after meals,
suffered from indigestion, and
was very uncomfortable. I
would feel tired, not like
working. I would take a few
doses of Black-Draught, and
/eel like work. I call it 'my
