The fire originated in a front

Will Endeavor to Boise Funds for
Suffering Armenians.
On Wednesday afternoon a num-
ber of church women of the var-
ious churches of the town met at
the Methodist Church to take up
plans for raising funds for the suf-
fering Armenians.
It was decided to hold u mass
meeting at an early date to take
up details of the work.
Miss Annie Sheppard is the
moving spirit in the undertaking
and all the good women of the
town are willing to help.
There are no people in the world
who are suffering mpt'e than these
people—helplessly hemmed in the
horrible European wars.
We Americans living in plenty
cannot realize unless we could see
starving mothers and babes.
Christian people who believe in,
serve and worship the self same
God, whose mandates we are to
keep—living in holes in the
ground, children, piteously crying
of hunger and suffering mothers
unable to feed the starving dear
ones. If we could feel compassion
when one of our own flesh and
blood lay starving to death and
we unable to alleviate the pain,
then we should help these people.

Report of Grand Jury.
To tho Hou. .7. II. Arnold, Judge
of -the 52ml Judicial District of
Texas:
We, your Grand Jury, beg to
submit the following report: We
have been in session 12 days and
hayc^xamined 181 witnesses, and
have made thoroughctpvestigation
of every violation of law that has
been bought to our notice; we have
returned 63 indictments, 22 fel-
onies and 41 misdemeanors; we
have had) all necessary assistance
from both Ditarict and County At-
torneys, we have employed four
riding bailiffs and have prompt
and efficient service from each of
them, we have visited the jail and
found same well kept, but desire to
recommend to the Commissioners
heating plant and have the neces-
sary repairs attended to at once.
We have had but little trouble
with witnesses and attendance of
witnesses before the Grand Jury,
to perjure themselevs to be on the
decline; on the whole we consider
the moral tone of our county
good, and only suggestion wo have|
to offer is that thq parents and
teachers of our county keep con-
stantly before their children and
pupils this vital fact, the reverence
of law and love for truth is ab-
solutely essential to true manhood
and womanhood as well aa to the
good citizenship. y !
