We have just learned of the sud-
den death of Otho S. Houston at
his home in Los Angeles, Califor-
nia. Mr. Houston was a brother-
in-luw of C. P. St. Clair and Mi>.
D. C. Clarke of this plaeq.
Mr. Houston was an unusually
successful man, having acpumulat
ed more than a million dollars dur-
ing the past few years.
At one time he was president of
the First National Bank of Steph-
enville and later manager of oth-
er banks in Fort Worth.
He has lived in Los Angeles dur-
ing the past five years where he
baa been actively interested in big
business affairs.
His home in Fort Worth is one
of the show places of the city. It
stands >on a hill and is a good re-
production of the Alamo.

mains were brought to Fort Worth

DeLeon, Texas, May 8.— Mrs.
Henry Strickland, wife of a young
farmer (mng nine miles south-
west of DeLeon, was killed yester-
day by the accidental discharge of
a shotgun in the hands of her hus-
band, who was cleaning the gun
after a hunting trip.
The charge struck her under the
right shoulder blade and - death
was instantaneous. She leaves two

Kensington Club
The ladies of the Kensington
Club were delightfully entertain-
ed by Mrs. O. R. Houghton in her
elegant home Friday, May 4. Vases
of cut flowers adorned the living
room and dining room. One of
the mam features of the afternoon
was Mrs. Penny backer’s address
to Texas wmen delivered by Miss
Minnie Cunningham in her char-
