The barbers have formed a
union, and the price of a hair-
cut has been advanced to 35 cents
To the Leader this seems to be a
very proper -proceeding, as every-
thing costs nen-ro money , unless
it be the subscription price of a
newspaper or the ^advertisements
placed in its columns. It may be
that the Leader willfform a union
one of these days, and it would
be well for those interested to
make their contracts for a year.
Saved His Life.
J. W. Davenport, Wingo, Ky, writes,
June 14 1902: “I want to tell you I be
liove Ballard's Snow Liniment saved
my life. I was under treatment of two
doctors, and they told me one of my
Jungs was entirely gone, and the other
badly affected. I also had a lump on
my side. I don’t think I could have
liyedover two months longer. I was
induced by a friend to try Ballard’s
Snow Liniment. The first application
gave me great relief; two fifty-eent
bottles cured me sound and well.
It is a wonderful medicine and I rec -
commend it to suffering humanity.

Pecan gatherers have had dull
times and hard work for the past
several days, owing to the wet
weather, mud and cold. The
nuts are bringing good prices,
however, and those who “would
catch fish, must not mind getting
wet.” The crop in this section
is above the average, while it is
said to be short in most other
parts of the state.

Tlie Best l>octor.
Rey. B. C. Horton, Sulphur Springs,
Texas, writes, July 19, 1902: “I have
used in my family Ballard’s Snow L;ni-
ment and Horehonnd Syrup, and they
have proved certainly satisfactory. The
liniment is the best we have ever used
for headaches and pains. The cough
syrup has been onr doctor for the last
eight years.” For sale at Schwarz &
Hoffmann.
Pecans are selling anywhere
from 6 cents per pound to 10 cents,
altogether owing to the quality,
the latter price only being paid
for fancy nuts, with large ker-
nels and extra thin shells. The
pecan crop in this section is bet-
ter than in most parts of the
state, and many gatherers will
make good money on their labor.
Astonishing Incident.
It was, to all her friends, an astonish-
ing incident, that Mrs. I. B. Hunt, of
Lime Ridge, Wis., was cured of her
dreadful sickness “Doctors,’’she writes
“had given me up; friends were ready
to bid me the last farewell; clouds of
despair darkened my horizon, and I was
a wreck on the shores of despondency,
when I began to take Electric Bitters,
for my frightful stomach and liver com-
plaint. To the astonishment of all, 1
was benefited at once and am now com-
pletely and miraculously restored to
health.” At R. A, Martin & Co’s,
drug store; price 50c; guaranteed.
District court adjourned for the
term Octboer 19, afternoon, and
the officials are all having a rest.
Very little business was trans-
acted, there being practically
nothing on the docket. How dif-
ferent from the courts of a few
years since, when twenty men at
least would have been indicted
for theft of cattle, and ten of
them would have been tried and
found guilty.
