Description

Research paper for a high school American History class at Marfa High School on January 12, 1964. It tells of the first explorers in the Big bend region of Texas during 1583 and the establishment of Fort Davis in 1853 Her paper describes the Indian attacks by the Apaches and the end of the military's use of it. Now it is open to the public.

Marfa gained a public library in 1947 with the current building donated in 1973. Through the help of organizations such as the Friends of the Marfa Library, the Library has been able to continue to provide residents with access to materials, programs, and city history.
