Mr. and Mrs. A. F Stoltzfus an-

daughter. Edna Fern to Richard

They were married Saturdav nite
at 9:30 P. M. in Heston, Kansas.
Mr. Schowalter is ordained in the
ministry and they are planning to

Mrs. Mertins Dies
Mrs. Elise Mertins, nee Elsie |
Banser. was born on the tlth dayj
of April, in the year of 1383 atj
Crete, Illinois, and departed from,
this life June 24. 1942. On April 20.
1884, she was joined in holy wed-
lock with Augest Mertens in Crete,
Illinois. In the year of 1910 the
family moved to Premont where
they made their home. In the year
of 1936 the family was bereaved of
a daughter. Mrs. Howard Hope, and
in the year of 1937 the husband
and father passed away. Mrs. Mer-
tins was a member of the Luther-
an Church and remained faithful
to the end. She is survived by one,
sister, Mrs. Sophie Schroeder, of!
Woodworth, 111
Neil Ahlman returned from a
fishing trip to Don Martin Oam in
Mexico, Saturday.
Mr. and Mrs. McCartney of Kerr-
ville are visiting their son, Si 8,
McCartney, a flew days.
Mr. Henry Gearing left last week
for Waco to work, on an airport for
the Cage Brothers.
J. B. Ray left Friday for Waco
where he will aloo work, on toe

Judging from the last issue of

ence between the weather here and
down there. The days are warm,
about H2 degrees, and the nights
cool. It has also averaged raining
about every six days since I have
been here
