Olney Pastor to
Attend World Council
n Of Churches Meeting
Rev. Joe I. Patterson, pastor of
the Olney Methodist Church, and
former pastor of the First Meth
odist Church in this city, will
leave Sunday for Evanston, HIT-
nois, where he will attend the Sec
ond Assembly of the World Coun-
cil of Churches.
Host to the Second Assembley
will be Northwestern University,
founded by Methodists in 1851.
All worship services will be held
in the First Methodist Church
Outstanding religious leaders,
representing every faith, from
various countries .will attend the
conference at Evanston Theme of
the Assembly will be “Christ, The
Hope of the World."
The program has been planned
to provide many opportunities for
ministers and laymen to partici-
pate in this first great ecumeni
cal gathering to be held on Amer-
ican soil. 1
The Assembly is made up of
181 member churches and coming
from 48 countries.
The Assembly meets for three
major purposes. First, it consid
ers certain great issues of Chris-
tian faith andi message;
the Assembly sits as the princi- j ston

At Lions Meeting
Five Scouts from the Circle Ten
Council, Dallas, who-are spending
two weeks at the Boy Scout Camp
Constantine on Possum Kingdom
Lake, gave a program of authen-
tic Indian1 war dances at the
Wednesday noon meeting of the
Lions Club. The youths, ranging
in age from 14 to 16, belong to
the Order of the Arrow, honorary
campers organization of the Boy
Scouts
Dressed in Indian costumes,
complete with feathers and beads,
the youths executed various In-
dian dances, closing the program
with a series of difficult hoop
dances.
They were accompanied by their
leader, Tom Barlow of Dallas.

Rev Bob Mowrey of Summer-
ville, Georgia, will be the guest
preacher at the Loving Baptist
Church during its fall revival serv-
ices beginning Wednesday evening,
August 11,
Rev. Mowrey was converted at
the age of nine and soon after his
conversion felt the call of God to
preach the Gospel and has faith-
fully carried out this commission
since. He is a graduate of the Uni-
versity of Chattanooga with an
AB degree.
He also attended Bob Jones
University and Asbury College.
After his graduation from U.C., he
attended Southern Baptist Theo-
logical Seminary at Louisville, Ky.,
and' received his B D. degree.
He has taught Bible at Chatta-
nooga High School, has been as-
sistant pastor and youth director
of the First Baptist Church at
Chattanooga, and is now pastor of
the First Baptist Church, Sum-
merville, Georgia.
Mr -Warren Buxton, music and
educational director of the First
Baptist Church, Graham, will di-
rect the music for the meeting.

are in bad condition, are urged to
call the City Hall for a new one.
Many trash barreD are in had
shape according to city crews
who mske Ahe trash collection.
They report that the trash falls
out of the bottom of the barrels
making it extremely difficult to
give efficient trash collection serv-
ice.

by phoning the City Hall.
