thev did not come at chat time.
Dr McCarty presumed tnat they
wruld arrive on t’l^e 4 o'clock
trhin Sundav morning. It being
very cojd. he got up at 3 o’clock
and built a fire in the fireplace
that the room might he warm
when they, reached home.
The fire place was one of a stack
chimney. and had not been used
in several days. When the doctor
built the fire, he leaned back in a
morris chair and went to slSep. -
In a few minutes afterward, he
awoke and the fire was falling In
