GROOM----“It is es-
timates that a carpet in
a six-room home collects
108 pounds of dirt in a
12 month period,” Mrs.
Dan Ashford said in a
program on carpets at the
Groom County Neighbors
Home Demonstration
Club in the home of Mrs.
Robert Kuehler May 27
with Mrs. Raphael Brit-
ten as co-hostess.
“Carpets should be
vaccumed at least twice
a week and three strokes
are required to remove
surface dirt,” she added.
A general cleaning will
require seven strokes to
remove imbedded dirt and
grime, the speaker said.
“Carpet pad is an ab-
solute must if any kind of
service is expected from
your rug,’ Mrs. Ashford
told the group.
The different fibers
found in carpets made to-
day were compared by the
speaker. She compared
them wool for wear ab-
ility, cleaning ability, re-
sistence to fading and
matting.
“Cleaning the carpet is
quite , important since dirt
and grit cause themost
carpet wear,” Mrs. Ash-
ford stated.
Different types ofvac-
cum sweelers were dos-
cussed by Mrs. Ashford
and she advised the ladies
that the sooner spots are
removed the more suc-
cessful will be the re-
moval.
