.. _ “Why is it”.......again!
Or did the Gremlins get into some ones
computer and inadvertently swallowed
up some more “pearls of wisdom’s”
previously referred to as “Why is it?”
So, once more with feelings:
Why is it... that congress will listen to some malcon-
tents, but in the meantime will punish those who served
with honor and backtrack on promises made to the real
patriots, in their retirement, to give back what was
earned and financially contributed to by the Armed
Forces member. Why is it... that after thirty some years
of paying into a “survivor benefit plan” and still having
to endure monthly deductions for the plan made from a
meager retirement check, congress has let him and all
who served down by postponing the paid up survivor
benefit paid up until October 2008.
Why is it... that only a handful of congressmen are
trying to protect these retired patriots by allowing them
to retain the monthly deductions before they die since
most are in the 80’s already? These people are not
asking for a hand out like some in this country, they paid
into this plan and legally it is and should be considered
paid up. Any civilian insurance plan would have consid-
ered it so, but not our congress. Why is that so? Too
much welfare programs, maybe?
Why is it... that it is no longer safe for a female to take
walks by herself in the streets in this country.
Why is it... that we have to now bolt our doors and
windows of our homes at all time.

Why is it... that “shock jock” programs on television
and radio are widely supported and people will get up
in arms when they are finally taken off the air.
Why is it... that people who are members of a certain
political party can say anything they desire without
being made accountable for their actions and for telling
and spreading hurtful lies.
Why is it... that some people in this country actually
fall for these lies, are they so uninformed, brainwashed
or just plain dumb?
Why is it... that this and other countries as well appear
to be so overloaded with hateful, unreasonable and
unintelligent people.
Why is it... that the parents in this country continue on
the streak of permissiveness with their children and are
unable to say no and stick with their convictions when it
is called for.
Why is it... that parents no longer recognize the fact
that good manners is what makes a child a responsible
citizen. Why is it... that politeness to elders has gone
out of style, being polite used to be a virtue and goes a
long way in what and how one is accepted into society
in the future.
Why is it... that some people will probably say that
none of this is all that important any longer. Oh, but
guess again. Does this country really need to raise any
more ill mannered, self-centered, opinionated and ill-
informed people?
Why is it... that these permissive parents do not
see what they are doing to their children, them-
selves and mostly to this country. Why is it... that
no one seems to care anymore.
Why is it... that no one seems to realize that this
country is rearing individuals who may run for
office and could cause great harm with their idiotic
ideas and believes taught to them by their irre-
sponsible parents and or ultra liberal teachers who
are actually getting paid good money, and who are
permitted to fill the heads of young minds with
untruth.
Why is it... that it appears this country is going
down the wrong garden path, and that is has
absolutely nothing to do with our current leaders,
it has to do with the malcontents, the selfish and
small-minded politicians and their followers who
still believe that something was stolen from them
in the last election and they want it back, at all
costs. We the people will be the losers. Think
about it.
Why is it... that the very people who leave their
animals (cats and dogs) unattended to be subjected
to being maimed or brutally killed, are the ones
who cry the loudest, call the newspapers to be
quoted and interviewed, crying “crocodile tears”

What about the New Health Savings Account (HSA1
Would you like to pay for qualified medical expenses income-tax free? Would you like to deposit that pre-tax money into an interest
earning account with no tax on the earned interest? Would you like to be in control of how the money is invested? Would you like for
the year end surplus to roll into the next year with no penalty?
HSA’s are great news for Americans!
As of January 1, 2004, The U.S. Congress passed legislation which allows consumers to save and earn money while paying their
qualified medical expenses tax-free. A Health Savings Account (HSA) is a tax-favored savings account that is used in conjunction
with a high-deductible HSA eligible insurance plan. You first find a qualified plan, and then establish your HSA savings account.
Qualified Medical Expenses?
HSA’s can be used to pay for many types of medical expenses including, but not limited to: Health insurance deductibles (not premiums), co-payments,
coinsurance, prescriptions and some over-the-counter drugs; Dental services, including braces, bridges, and crowns; Vision care, including glasses and Lasik eye surgery;
Psychiatric and some psychological treatments; and more.
Qualified HSA insurance plans
A qualified HSA health insurance plan is often referred to as a High Deductible Health Plan (HDHP). These plans are typically less expensive than plans with lower
deductibles. The plan must have an annual deductible of at least $1,000 for individuals and at least $2,000 for families. The sum of the deductible, co-payments, and coin-
surance must not exceed $5,000 for individuals and $10,000 for families.
Maximum yearly contribution
For individuals it is currently $2,600 and for families it is $5,150. This amount can be changed by the federal government on an annual basis. When you open your HSA
account, the first year’s maximum contribution is prorated based on the number of months left in the calendar year.

How do I use my HSA funds?
Your funds are held and administered by a bank or other approved Trustee. You will be able to choose
from interest-bearing accounts, CD’s, Money market funds, mutual funds, and more. You will typically
receive a checkbook and/or a debit card. You simply pay for the qualified medical expenses using that
checkbook or debit card. You do not need approval from the HSA administrator to use your funds, nor do
you need to submit receipts, although you should save them just as you keep receipts for other items that
are tax deductible.
HSA’s provide wonderful tax savings opportunities. Please call Lee Jarrell at the Mike Honea Insurance
Agency, 972-436-0717 for more information and quotes on HSA qualified insurance plans. The Mike
Honea Insurance Agency has been providing Business, Health, Life, Auto, and Home insurance for over
