6:30 p.m., with dinner served at
7:30. The guest speaker will be
local writer and journalist James
Mack Adams portraying Gen.
Robert E. Lee, Class of 1829.
Graduates and former cadets and
midshipmen of the other service
academies are invited to attend.

The American Red Cross
Station at Fort Stewart is asking
for donations of old clothing and
toys to be used in an upcoming
yard sale. All proceeds from the
event will benefit the local Red
Cross Volunteer program.
Donations can be dropped off at
the main Red Cross office in
Room 106, Bldg. 623 from 8 a.m.
to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.

The Army Aviation
Association of America's annual
convention is slated for April 4-7
at the Charlotte Convention
Center in Charlotte, N.C. The
theme will be "Aviation in the
Army Transformation - Strategy for
2001 and Beyond." For informa-

The Savannah Chapter of the
Vietnam Veterans of America
will march in the Savannah St.
Patrick's Day parade to honor the
106 soldiers, sailors, airmen and
Marines from the Savannah area
who lost their lives in Vietnam.
Area Vietnam veterans are
encouraged to participate in the

Center on White Bluff Road in
Savannah at 652-4097.
Volunteers are being sought
to assist with the Special
Olympics at Fort Stewart April 6.
Volunteers will serve primarily as
"Huggers/Pat on the Backers,"
encouraging and support the ath-
letes throughout the day.
At least 500 volunteers are
needed. Groups, such as Unit
Family Readiness Groups, private
organization, or unit are also
encouraged to volunteer.
The Olympics are slated for
April 6 at the Quick Track, with a
rain date of April 26. VolunteerRegistration is at 7:30 a.m. at the
track, with orientation at 8:30 a.m.
The games are expected to end
around 3 p.m.
Lunch is provided for volun-
teers. For information, call Army

A pre-Easter breakfast is
scheduled for 6 a.m. April 11 at
Club Stewart. The guest speaker
will be Chaplain (Brig. Gen.)
David Hicks. If you would like to

The Army Astronaut
Candidate Screening Board will
convene in May to select soldiers
for nomination to the National
Aeronautics and Space
Administration (NASA). Soldier
interested in applying for the
.astronaut program my apply
through April 15. Soldiers must
have a bachelor's or higher
degree from an accredited institu-
tion in engineering, biological sci-
ence, physical science or mathe-
matics. Degrees must be followed
by at least three years of related,
progressively responsible, profes-
sional experience. An advanced
degree is desirable and may be
substituted for part or all of the
experience requirement.

Wearing nametape on the
Gortex parka is mandatory,
according to a recent memoran-
dum from the Department of theArmy. The nametape is 3 1/2 inch-
es long, 1/2 inch wide, with 1/4
inch block letters. The nametape
will accommodate 14 characters.
The tape is to be sewn on the left
sleeve pocket flap, 1/4 inch up
from the bottom of the flap and
centered left to right. The change
will be included into the next revi-
sion of Army Regulation 670-1.
