Church Notes J
J. E. Buttrill, Pastor
A lady had come for some time
to a new church. In which Cnrlst
was preached as being the power
and wisdom of God. She was
asked by one of her friends why
.She went to that church and if-
plied: “In my former church I
always received the Impression,
that I was a very good and pious
woman, but here I notice chat
there is still much lacking In niv
life that Christ alone can sup-
ply.”
It Is the province of the law
to awaken the sense of our sin-
fulness (Romans 3:30), that of
the Gospel to show us the rem-
edy for sin, and in Christ and
His cross we can see as nowhere
else both the workings of the
Law and the exceeding grace that
opened up the way for us by
which we can eecapa from the
penalties the Law must exact
from us because of sin.
