Bulldogs Edged 12-to-7
McGregor’s Bulldogs had vic-
tory snatched from their grasps
last Friday night on the est
gridiron when a red-sliirted
Trojan hooked a rifled pass and
rolled over the;, goal line, boosting
the score to 12-7 in the dying
minutes of the distrist 19-A
clash. '
The McGregor gridders need
not be ashamed of their loss, for
they turned in one of their best
games of the season. Throughout
the entire game the Bulldogs
laid the Trojans in the shade
with their blocking and running.
It was in the passing department
that the Trojans excelled, and
the locals couldn’t seem to stop
them.
West counted the first time m
the opening quarter when a Tro-
jan covered a fumble by Bud
Guinn on the Bulldog 39. On two
runs Otto Dettiman carried
over, but the extra point try was
no good. This was the only time
during the game that Trojan
backs had a chance to stretch
their legs with the pigskin. The
Bulldog forward wall kept the
Trojan ground game at a stand
still most of the evening.
After the officials had given
the four minute signal in the
first half, the Bulldogs killed a
Trojan offensive thrust on their
own 15 and took over the hall,
In seven play they marched to
the West six with first down.
With time for only one play,
Guinn chose to pass, and the ball
fell incomplete as the half ended.
MicGregor’s only score 'came
in the early part of the third
quarter. A white-shirted canine

West’s winning pass in the
final quarter terminated a two-
pass drive from the Bulldog 33.
The local’s superiority on the
ground is evidenced by the sti-
tistics which show that the Bull-
dogs gained 172 yards on the
ground as, compared to only 98
for the Trojans. The Bulldogs
also piled up 12 first downs to
the Timjans’ nine.
In the passing, punting and
penalty departments, fans can
read the story of McGregor’s de-
feat. West completed nine out of
16 passes for 115 yards, while
McGregor completed three out
of 13 for 52 yards. The Bulldogs
punted seven times for an aver-
age of 19 yayds and the Trojans
punted three times for 24 yards.
Three of the canines’ hoots were
for two, seven and ten yards. In
penalties the officials stepped
off 50 costly yards against the
Bulldogs to 25 against the Tro-*
jans.
