THE PLATFORM OF CHRIST’S CHURCH—No. 2
We found in our last lesson that the first plank in the
platform of Christ’s church was, to receive the Bible as the
complete and inspired word of God .and the only revelation
for man today. Plank No. 2, is Faith in God through the W ord
of God. One cannot over emphasize the importance of faith in
the word of God, and in His son, Jesus Christ. Without
faith it is impossible to be pleasing in the sight of God.” (Heb.
11:6). Those that please God must “walk by faith and not by
sight.” 2 Cor. .5:17. If we can see a reason for everything that
we do, we are not walking by faith, hut by human wisdom.
Much of our trouble in the religious world today is found
in the fact that m^ny people want to walk by their own stan-
dard rather than the word of God. We need to recognize that
“it is not in man that walketh to direct his own steps.” The
importance of this plank is seen when we hear Paul say in
Romans 10:17, “Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the
word of God.” And Paul said in Romans 14:23, “for what-
soever is not of faith is or sin.” It is for this reason that the
church of Christ today does not sprinkle babies, have instru-
mental music in its worship, burn incense, have aid and mis-
sionary societies. God’s word is silent upon them. Y e must
walk by faith, and faith cometh by hearing the word of God.
CHURCH of CHRIST
‘Big men become big by doing
what they don’t want to do when
they don’t want to do it.
