“Why did you come to college,
any way? You are not study-
ing,” said the professor. “Well,”
said Algernon, “I hardly know
exactly myself. Mother says it
is to fit me for the presidency,
Uncle Bill says to sow my wild
oats, Sis says to get a chum for
her to marry, and Pa says to
bankrupt the family.”—National
Weekly.

This weather has been hard on
the wood pile, but splendid for
the men who supplies the wood,
of which there are many in and
around Lampasas. Good wood
sells readily and brings a good
return to the man who owns it or
buys it and works^tt up for the
fires of the .city.
Resolutions of the Churches.
At the meeting held Sunday
afternoon, looking to prepara-
tions for the union revival meet-
ing to be held here some time
during the month of March, the
following resolutions were passed
in addition to the action reported
in Monday’s issue of The Leader:
Resolved, that the proposition
of building a tabernacle be left
with the building committee.
That a committee be appointed
to request the Young Men’s Bus-
iness Association to secure rail-
road rates.
That all denominations in the
city and country be requested to
co-operate. I
That the proceedings of the
meeting and its different com-
mittees be published in the local
papers.
That the pastors of the differ-
ent churches constitute a com-
mittee on order of the services.
