SPECIAL EDITION OF THE

During the three years of the
present management of The
Eagle, there has never been a
special edition of the paper.

Hamer, son of Mr. and Mrs.
Alex J. Hamer, is still adding to
his well established reputation
as a star player on the Univer-
sity team.
Ernest is now playing profes-
sional football each week-end
and is pulling down a fine sal-
ary. The team of which he is
full hack, is now third from the
lop in the league composed of
some twenty teams.
The following is taken from
one of the several accounts of
his playing which appeared re-
cently in the Franklin Field pro-
gram:
“Tex Hamer, captain of the
University of Pennsylvania foot
ball squad last year, is making
good with a bang in the ranks
of professional football.
Tex has been a real star in
every game played this season
by the Yellow Jackets. A con-
sistent ground gainer himself,

Hamer has been doing a great
deal of the kicking for the
Frankford squad, and doing it
well. Tex has mastered the art
of kicking off from midfield with
out a tee, and seldom do his
kickoffs after a score or at the
kind of special editions usually
issued was necessary.
It is often the custom to get
out special editions and charge
exorbitant prices for advertis-
ing, pick up a lot of concerns
that do not advertise regularly,
etc., and as a consequence ad-
vertising volume drops off for
a while.
The Eagle’s special edition
will not be of this kind. We
have gone to a considerable ex-
pense for the 1‘2-page paper
that we will issue, hut the ad-
vertising rates will be the same
as for the regular editions.
