UNVEIL MEMORIAL.
Atlanta, Ga., Jan. 12.—The
Saturday by the State Comp-
troller’s office.
The amount collected the pre-
vious year was $3,574,486. Over
$3,000,000 of this year’s tax is
represented by that from oil
well, an increase of almost a
million dollars. Fifteen other
lines of business contributed to
the tax, including express com-
panies, telegraph, water, elec-
tric companies, pipelines, street
railways and law book compa-
nies.
The report shows that 111,-
802,511 barrels of oil were pro-
duced in the period valued at
$177,573,581. On August 31,
1922, there was a delinquent tax
on the books of $118,866. This
was reduced during the year by
the collection of $84,847.
The cent gasoline tax for the
months of June, July and Au-
gust totaled $690,573, the law
having been in effect only three
months when the period ended.
