Editor's Note: The following let-
ter has been received In Carthage by
Mrs. J. E. Langford from her son,
Sgt. Odell Langford who ia now on
overseas duty. The letter follows:
May 14th, 1944.
Dear Mother:
Today is Mother's Day and I wish
it were possible for me to to there
with yoa. But we are many, many
miles apart aad can only be together
in thought aad prayer. And I pray
God will shield and protect one of
the sweetest Mothers—and to me—
the sweetest in all the world. For
when its all over I am planning on
being home again with my Mom and
Dad. 1 recently sent yon a cablegram
and hope yon hare received it by
now.
I had a pass lor today and another
of the boys In a squadron planned to
go riding in the country on bicycles.
Thanks for the Panola Watchman
for another year. I received the copy
of March 9th the other day. 1 en-
joy the paper and although they are
slow getting here maybe the mailing
service will pick up and we can get
the papers form home more regularly.
Maybe the oil business will spread
out more and more, also the leasing.
Sure hope so anyway.
I have not seen anyone from home
over here yet. There is little news to
report from here now.
' Your loving son.
