DAUGHTERS WILLI CLAIM
BODIES OF ALL VETERANS
AUSTIN, Dec. 11.—A legislative
committee of the Texas division of
.the Daughters of the Confederacy has
notified the Board of Control that
it is claiming every otherwise unclaim-
ed body of a veteran or* widow of a
veteran who dies in the Confederate
Home and the Confederate Women’s
Home, under the laws consigning un-
claimed bodies of eleemosynary insti-
tutions to the State Medical College.
The Daughters will arrange for
the burial of unclaimed bodies of vet-
erans and their widows and will see
that they do not go to the medical
college. However, the Control Board
recently announced the new law un-
workable, and of no effect.
The Daughters’ communication
claiming bodies was signed by Mrs.
Forrest Farley, Mrs. Dave Doom, Mrs.
Joe Rowe, Mrs. John W. Preston, Mrs.
Forrest Morgan and Miss Mary Car-

J Mr. Blanton’s career in congress
was stormy over a stretch of years.
As a member of the house committee
on the District of Columbia he was
muchj in the limelight. On one occa-
sion a move to expel him for trans-
gression of the house rules failed by
only a few votes.
Lee Tireless Worker,
Mr. Blanton ran fourth in the first
primary of 1928, when he was a can-
didate for the senate post then held by
Earl B. Mayfield. Senator Mayfield,
Congressman Torn Connally and Col.
Alvin Ousley outran him in the order
named. Mr. Connally defeated Mr.
I Mayfield in the runoff primary.
I Mr. Lee was elected to the congres-
! sional post by a narrow margin of
! votes. In contrast to Mr. Blanton,
