Comanche’s first course cover-
ing basic, common-sense measures
to be taken for natural and man-
made calamities, was completed
Tuesday night. March 29, by A
class of 18 persons.
W. L. Morris, .principal of the
J B Layne Elementary School,
who recently completed an In-
structor’s course In survival plan-
ning. described the course ‘‘for
people who want to live to a
ripe old age regardless of what
happens.’’ Morris Is an approved
survival Instructor under Texas
Education Agency, which Is co-
operating in the Nation’s Civil
Defense plan.
Persons wishing to enroll in
future survival courses may con-
tact Mr. Morris or Bob Carpen-
ter, County and. City Civil De-
fense IVirector. -
The public can learn about per-
sonal and family preparedness
for survival during and after
emergencies by attending these
free civil defense and disaster re-
lief classes

Making Comeback
night, with business meetings
each second Monday night.
Homecoming la Planned
A homecoming is planned at
Hasse for the last Sunday in May
and plans call for sending In-
vitations to all former residents
of the community, with a general
invitation to the public to be on
hand for the occasion.
Besides President Elliott, other
officers of the Hasse club are
E. W. (Bunt) Bruner, vice-presi-
dent. and Mrs. Clarence Proctor,
secretary.
On the entertainment commit-
tee are R W. Reed and Charles
Anders Ladies on the serving
committee are Mesdames Doyle
Reid. Travis Cotten. Bunt Brun-
er and Linne Parmer. In charge
of the Improvement material
committee are Clarence Proctor
AUTOMOBILE
CASUALTY
Hasse. once a thriving Coman-
che County business center with
a railroad depot, a bank, a hotel,
a drug store, about a down mer-
cantile establishments, and even
a newspaper. Is again taking on
new life, after having become al-
most a ghost town with the ad-
vent of automobiles, paved high-
ways and consolidated schools.
Early this year, the Hasse Good
Neighbor Club was organized to
take the place of a dormant club
that was active for several years
after it was organized in 1963
followi'hg the discontinuation of
the Hasse school
The former school building
which was erected only 15 years
ago, is now being used as club
headquarters, and through neigh-
borhood cooperation is undergo-
ng a complete remodeling, pro-
gram.

money was realized to start the
needed building improvements
An all-day working was held at
the former school building last
Friday, under the leadership of
W. B. Elliott, club president. The
men of the Hasse community put
in a full day’s work and the
women assisted with the work
and served a delicious meal at
noon.
Further improvements are be-
ing planned with work to con-
tinue until everything is In tip-
top shape.
Present plans call for a social
meeting every fourth Saturday
