One of the most efficient em-
ployees of The Chief is Mrs.
James (Maryl Wllkerson, who
does triple duty as society editor,
bookkeeix’r, and secretary. What-
ever Mary undertakes to do, she
does well. For that reason, we
sometimes call her "Miss Effic-
iency”.
• i
Mary says she is going to see
that everything is going to be
kept “spic and span” when we
move into our new building and
we hope she does. It would be
a pity to litter up that pretty
new building

Down through the years, The

Then there was Monte Laugh-

For several years after we came
here The Chief employed a sec-

And they were alF efficient.

In the Slimmer of. 1925, after
we had bought The Chief, we
had the privilege of meeting G.
A Beeman who founded The
Chief in 1873. He lived at that
j time, we believe, In Pecos. He
came here to visit his daughter,
the late Mrs. J. B. Chilton, and
his sister, the late Mrs L. B.
Russell.
• ft*
The late Mr. Beeman operated
The Chief only 4 years, part of
which time he had a partner. In
187V he sold his interest In The
Chief and engaged In other busi-
ness activities In Comanche. In-
cluding the Beeman-St Clair
Mercantile Company.

For many years. Mr. Berman
was state manager of Franklin
