In regular. school board meet-
ing on Monday night. April 4.
the Comanche School Board
transacted the following business:
1 Approved bills for the month
oT March.
2 Made an official canvass of
the recent Trustee election and
declared John Brazlel and Dar-
rell Smith officially elected, fol-
lowing which oaths of office were
administered to the re-elected
members. The following officer*
of the Board were elected for the
coming .year: C. D. Swearengln,
president; A. E Robertson, vice
president: and Darrell Smith,
secretary. J
3. Renewed the two-year con-
tracts of the three principals:
J E Ughtfoot. High School; B.
O Swindle, Junior High; and
W L, Morris, J. B. Layne.
S H. Fletcher, superintendent,
had been given a new three-year
contract at an earlier meeting.
4. Heard a report on the Aver-
age Dally Attendance situation
for '59-'60 and discussed the poss-
ible enrollment ’ by grades for
90-'81. Because of drop of ADA
on sickness, it seems very prob-
able at this time that the Co-
manche Schools will lose one
Classroom Teaching Unit for the
coming year. This cannot be de-
termined until the cloee of school.
It was therefore decided at this
time by the Comanche Board
that the delay of election of some
two or three teachers should be
held until specific approval or
disapproval had been obtained on
, this place and arrangement of
I the teaching load to the best
[benefit of the school. In view.of
I this fact all teachers were re-
elected with the exception of de-
layed action On two or three per-
sonnel. Official announcement of
these places will be made In the
future It was agreed by the
Board that election of other
school personnel would be taken
up In May bbard meeting.
5. Enrollment figures reported
to the Board as of April 1. 1880,
showed 958 eligible enrolled stud-
ents in the Comanche Public
Schools, with an additional 22 In
Special Education. This distribu-
tion was 420 In J. B. Layne. 288
In Junior High, and 272 In High
School. The School Board dls-
I cussed the fact that although
sickness was being very detri-
1 mental to attendance and that
the percentage of this would be
considered by. the Texas Educa-
tion Agency in keeping the pres-
ent Classroom Teacher Units, It
