If so, It would be a good idee to
talk with a representative of the
Abilene Social Security Office on
one of the dates shown below,
j according to R. R. Tuley, Jr.,
district manager.
By inquiring before retiring,
more exact plans may often bis
worked out as to the effective
date of the claim, what age proof
will be acceptable, what records
of earnings may be required, etc.,

there will be no quotas and no
penalties applicable to the I960
upland cotton crop, no “domestic
allotment’’ program providing
price-support payments, and price
support to farmers who comply
with their acreage allotments will
be available at 80 percent at par-
ity, as directed by law.
The regular acreage allotment
program Is not effected by the
outcome of the balloting. The al-
lotments will remain in effect—
whether or not quotas are approv-
ed—as a means of determining
eligibility for the available price
support.
Bryant pointed out that, while
the Secretary of Agriculture is
directed by law to proclaim quotas
for the next crop when the total
upland cotton supply exceeds nor-
mal, it is the growers themselves
who decide whether or not quotas
shall be used. Previous votes on
the subject have been outstand-
ingly favorable. Marketing quotas
for the 1964 upland ootton crop
were approved by 9« percent of
the growers voting; -
