It was stated here that this phase
would likely open negotiations with
Carranza once more, as the mediators
believe that the mediation has gone
beyond the Tampico incident or repar-
j ation therefor, and has now reached
' the point of ending all hostilities in
Mexico.
U. S. to Insist on Commission.
That the United States will insist
upon a commission being chosen to1
govern Mexico until a permanent gov-
ernment may be formed, is deemed
certain, and seems to be the general
_ opinion following the conference at
| the White House today between the
^president, Secretary of State Bryan,
Justice Lamar and Judge Lehman.
| It was stated (that these delegates
had been instructed to insist upon this
/point. Secretary Bryan said that the
dejegates had gone over the entire
Mexican situation, so that they would
be in a position to present the side
of this country as fully as possible.
Favors Non-Military Man.
The Mexican delegation, in speaking
of the possibility of the future gov-
ernment of Mexico, said that the dele-
gates were agreed upon some one,
neither a Huerta supporter, nor a sup-
porter of Carranza, nor a man with
military experience or prejudices. Who
this man was they would not say, simi-
ply stating that they would not men-
tion the matter, but allow the A. B. C.
mediators to take the initiative in the
matter.

WOODMEN SOCIAL-
The Modern Woodmen of Electra
held another big social last evening at
their hall and incidentally put on a
large class adoption. The work of
the local camp was something extra
and not often seen in towns of this
size. After the adoption of the class
refreshments were served and a
smoker finished the program. After
all of which it was unanimously de-
cided that it was certainly grand to be
a woodman. The local camp here is
on a solid foundation, being built of
the best material in the city and rap-
idly growing, and soon will be the big-
gest thing in Electra by all odds.
Thursday, June 4th, is set for an-
other gala day with the camp. It is
planned to take at least 25 candidates
and the entire camp to Wichita Falls
and see the exemplification of the
work put on by the best drilled team
in West if not *all of Texas. The
