work on the Fort Wortfi-Denton inter-
urban will begin just as soon as the
work that has alredy been done has
been checked up,, material purchased
and contracts let. This information
was given out by C. H. Clifford, gener
al manager of the Northern Texas
Traction company, Saturday after-
noon.

Halifax, N. S., May 17.—The Uni-
ted States revenue cutter Seneca re-
ported today by wireless that she had
picked up the third and missing boat
from, the ill-fated Leyland steamer Co-
lumbian, and that she was bringing
survivors found in the boat to Halifax.
Those reported saved are the first
officer, one fireman and two seamen.
The Seneca is expected,to arrive with
them tomorrow.

ments for the departure of 250 Amer-

BAPTIST PASTOR PROUD
OF HIS SON
. Rev. W. C. Garrett has jus.t had a
letter from the president of the col-
lege in Mississippi, where his son is
attending school, that the son has just
won a gold medal for the best essay
on the effects of alcohol. The son is
19 years old. His report cards have
come from the college each month
with 100 on deportment and an aver-
age of 95 on all his studies. \He will
be home, to spend the summer here
with his parents, about June 12th,
Mrs. Wm. Eckelkamp died at her
home near Mt. Carmel last Sunday
evening after a prolonged illness, hav-
ing been confined to her bed almost a
year. The body of deceased was laid
to rest in Mt. Carmel cemetery this
morning, Father Weber conducting the
funeral services. The funeral was
under the direction of John W. Little,
undertaker f%r the Goodman-Fllbyd
Co. To the husband, children and
other relatives who mourn, the News
extends sympathy.

been here several weeks with his
brother who is suffering from cancer
of the stomach, is removing him to
Chillicothe this afternoon. The afflict-
ed man was conveyed to the station in
the Austin Furniture Co. ambulance.
