Byers Turns Atheletic
The Gymnasium'. The very
word sends a thrill through
most boy > and girls. Ii Byers
does not have a fully equipped
“Gym,” she has the next best
thing to it, an indoor basket
ball court in the old Oil Mill.
Thanks to the boys and young
men. thanks to the women too,
tor they have been strong sup-
porters.’' •
Basket ball, besides being a
form of amusement is a body
and character builder: Body
builder because of physical train-
ing. character builder because ot
fair play taught. So it is up to
the Byers people to not onjv
support our teams, but to help
push this movement along and
not to let the pep and enthusi-
asm die.
Last week all the women and
girls that were interested in Ims-
ket ball met at Mrs. Boostvr
Warren’s. The coach, Mr Lis
ton who is a verv capable man
tor the pluce, conducted Hu-
mecting. Mrs. Homer \KCon-
key was elected Captain and
Mrs M. E. Harrison business
Mgr. Yellow and white were
the colors selected. “BversCats"
was the name decided upon, as
to whether the name is applica-
ble remains to be seen.
Some women and girls are
strong believers in exercises. AH
the spectators that witnessed
the try out ot the "Byers Cats"
last Monday evening will vouch
that the "Cats" have the endur-
ance that goes to make a real
atheletc.
The supporters ot the basket-
ball movement use this paper as
a mouth piece by saying: women
and girls come out tnukci no dit-
terenee slim or stout.
